Asthalia Wyrldica

So, hello again!

Well, our merry little band of folks have been active in the world for a while now, and conversations on Reddit gave me some ideas that I am now working on, and the collation and condensation of certain rules and systems post 2024 Core release has had an impact and is causing some changes, and so the world as a larger whole has changed a tad bit.

But not nearly as much as might have been expected. In terms of the setting itself, very little has changed. I did some light work on the nature of Space within and around the Firmament, and cleaned up some minor language bobbles for clarity around the DImensions, and a few other odds and ends, but no major changes that have a ripple effect by and large.

The globe has changed, though. Shifted to three additional major areas instead of the more complex set up I had before — and I am starting work on the occupants of one of the continents, now that I have a good idea for it. That will all come later, further down the road.

Work on Aspects and Spells was halted in terms of the writing it out part, but it did get a lot of testing in actual play, and the system is working nicely, though we need to adjust how the spell lists are laid out a bit.

Magic is being tweaked to work with the new rules to an extent. But the biggest change is to the way that the classes are set up.

In practice, the gunslinger, while absolutely a part of the world as a hole, falls apart as a stand alone class. Bards, while the presence of the Muses is absolutely working out, really do still need to fit into the core structure more properly, so some tweaks are going on with them.

What that leaves us with is this:

So, yeah, some name changes there. Theurge is a placeholder — don’t really have a strong archetype in mind for it yet.

The gunslinger stuff, however, is dropping into Aspects — so anyone can become a gunslinger, but some special perks if the gunslinger is a Templar for the Posse of Eld.

Some new stuff there as well: Explorer, like Reeve, is absolutely a nice change of pace and a fitting archetype for the world. Combining Knowledge and action, it is looking to be a rather pleasant surprise class wise.

The Shrineward is now Sentinel, protecting their flocks. Clerics are much more like regular priests, rather than warrior ones.

In terms of magical power, the Disciple-Servant-Sensate system still stands. The C-Mod is a modifier to melee, ranged, and unarmed combat. Still Tweaking it.

Of course, all of this means doing some tweaking to some of the classes, and it also means that there are more now.

the 2024 rules mean doing some updates to the skill system, to the assorted skills and tools and kits, but it ultimately works out for the better.

One of the biggest changes, however, is that the number of books has dropped. The “rules” book, now called the Canonalia, took a bunch of the magic stuff over. It is essentially the rules of Wyrlde, a book of House rules and systems, but is not a book about making a character — that is still the Incarnalia. Thr setting is Codexalia. This is pretty good overall.

The stuff for creating an adventure — my feeble attempt as describing how I do it, is much better than it was. My one big concern is that I still need to find a way to demonstrate the concept of Scene Trees.

Lastly, once again, when the next “done” point is reached, I will reset the entire site — but still follow the current set up. So each section will get a chunk of relevant data. THen I will set up a tag system of some sort and a glossary.
